UAT’s (University of Advancing Technology) Summer 2026 continued with summer camp traditions with our first annual STEM camp for high school students at out campus in Tempe, AZ.

Building Confidence Through Technology

For one exciting week, the University of Advancing Technology (UAT) welcomed 20 high school students from across the country to campus for the 2026 UAT STEM Camp. From July 6–10, campers immersed themselves in emerging technologies, explored potential career paths, and experienced college life by living in UAT's residence halls throughout the week.

Unlike traditional summer camps, UAT STEM Camp gives students the opportunity to learn by building. Through hands-on projects, collaborative challenges, and guidance from UAT faculty and staff, campers gained practical experience in some of today's most in-demand technology fields.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Throughout the week, campers worked on expanded projects, giving them the opportunity to explore, create, and discover new interests through hands-on learning. Here's a look at what they accomplished with the help of UAT's camp partner, GenTech:

Throughout the week, students explored a variety of STEM disciplines, including:

Campers worked together to solve technical challenges, develop creative solutions, and gain confidence using the same tools and technologies found in university classrooms and today's technology workforce. Whether writing their first lines of code or learning how cybersecurity professionals protect digital systems, every student left with new skills and a deeper understanding of technology.

Living the College Experience

One of the highlights of UAT STEM Camp is giving students an authentic taste of college life. Throughout the week, campers lived in UAT's residence halls, enjoyed meals together in the UAT Café, and experienced the balance of academics and campus life that defines the university experience.

Learning didn't end when classes wrapped up each day. Campers relaxed together during a movie night in UAT's theater, put their gaming skills to the test in an exciting eSports competition, and cooled off with a snow cone social that gave everyone a chance to unwind, connect, and build lasting friendships.

For many students, it was their first opportunity to live on a college campus. By the end of the week, they left with more than new technical skills—they gained confidence, independence, lifelong friendships, and a firsthand look at what life as a UAT student can be like. The week culminated in a graduation where all campers received a certificate of "campletion" along with custom UAT camp shirts.

Looking Ahead

The success of this year's UAT STEM Camp reflects the growing enthusiasm among students for immersive technology education. As campers returned home with new skills, new friendships, and greater confidence, many also left inspired to continue exploring careers in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, software development, and other emerging technologies.

UAT looks forward to welcoming the next generation of innovators back to campus for future STEM camp experiences, where curiosity becomes creativity and ideas becuat amome innovation. Stay tuned for updates for camp in 2027 and potentially Fall 2026.
