UAT Event Recap: AZTC Speaker Series and TechFusion Conference

This Spring was filled with a slew of events that UAT students, staff, and faculty attended.

Exploring AI’s Impact

On February 18th, Dr. Bolman joined the Arizona Technology Council for an insightful virtual talk as part of their Tech Speaker Series. With a captivated audience of over 50 participants, Dr. Bolman delved into the rapidly advancing world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its potential to reshape industries and daily life.

Dr. Bolman’s presentation, titled “AI Horizons,” focused on the current and future implications of artificial intelligence. From deep learning to machine vision, AI is a driving force behind many technological innovations. However, as with any groundbreaking technology, AI presents both opportunities and challenges.

He spoke about the incredible potential AI has to improve efficiency, accuracy, and innovation across various sectors such as healthcare, cybersecurity, and automation. Dr. Bolman also highlighted ethical considerations, particularly in relation to bias, privacy concerns, and the future of the workforce. As AI continues to evolve, it is essential to understand its broader impact on society and its responsible application.

TechFusion: AI, IT and Computer Science Conference

On March 25th , UAT attended another star studded  Arizona Technology Council with an infusion of Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and Advancing Computer Science.

TechFusion was an electrifying convergence of industry professionals, business leaders, educators, and policymakers, all eager to explore the transformative impact of artificial intelligence and information technology. Hosted in Arizona, the event brought together a powerhouse lineup of thought leaders to discuss the future of AI-driven innovation, regulation, and business strategy.

The afternoon kicked off with a warm welcome from Arizona Technology Council President & CEO Steven Zylstra, followed by a compelling opening keynote from Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes. The first panel, featuring experts like UAT’s Craig Belanger and Tony Hinton, delved into AIs role in shaping business over the next three years, covering automation, workforce evolution, and industry adaptation.

Some of the key points 

  • Arizona Secretary of State, Adrian Fontes, began the event with an impassioned keynote.
  • Delving into data centers, IT and cybersecurity, each panel posed a different sector and question.
  • The consensus is that AI is so rapidly moving, it is difficult to predict as they progress. 
  • Regulations on technology pose an innovation dilemma on creation vs control.
