Girl Scouts Pitch Cookies to Area CEOs

Pretty much everyone loves Girl Scout Cookies, whether team Thin Mint or Samoa. But have you considered what it takes for school age kids to be able to sell these cookies, both door-to-door and in front of businesses?

Local CEOs get it, and that’s why they work with the Girl Scouts-Arizona Cactus-Pine Council (GSACPC) during their Cookie CEO Fast Pitch event. The event pairs area executives with GSACPC Juniors, Seniors, and Ambassadors to help them refine their pitches, as well as providing advice and tips.

The participants are given a chance to deliver their sales pitch, and if they are successful, the CEOs will buy up to $500 worth of cookies. University of Advancing Technology (UAT) Provost Dr. David Bolman participated in the event, saying, “The girls were brave beyond their age. Giving a two-minute pitch to a CEO and then taking feedback is really hard, but these girls embraced it and are so much further along in their communication skills.”

Dr. Bolman was impressed with the pitches, presented through Zoom this year. “It was excellent letting them know that everyone gets nervous pitching ideas,” he said. “It is how our brains work. The best path through that emotional response is to keep practicing and getting comfortable in your own skin.”

Good luck to all the scouts throughout cookie season, and we’re looking forward to trying the new Adventurefuls!
